Lita and I have started up a Piggery in the Philippines with Lita’s brother Abet. Abet like most of Lita’s brothers and sisters, lives in Taboco City, Philippines. Lita owns a piece of property in one of barrios, on which two of her sisters and one of her nieces lives with their familys. This is were the piggery is located.
There was a small piggery on the property that some of Lita’s family had used to raised a few pigs on over the years. The roof of the piggery was destroyed last year by one of the typhons they had. Since that time it has been abandoned and left to disrepair. Lita and I decided to fix it up and to start raising some pigs. Abet will take care of raising the pigs and we will provide the money needed to repair the piggery, buy the piglets and the food needed for them. Our plan is to grow the piggery to the point were it will generate a incone for both Abet and us.
Abbet has spent the last two to three weeks repairing and fixing the piggery. He did run into some delays caused buy the rain that they have been having over there. The day before yesterday he finished with the repairs. Today he purchased the piglets or baboy (Tagolog word for pig). Lita spoke with Abet today and he said that they are beautiful. He is very excited about this entire endevor we are involved in together.
We are starting out with eight piglets. Six we will raise til they are at selling weight (80 - 100 kilos) which usally is about 3 - 4 months. The remaining two will be keep to turn into mother pigs. This way our piggery will start to regenerate itself after a matter of time. Our hopes are to increase the number of pigs we raise over a period of time. Someday we hope that our piggery will produces both pigs and piglets for sale and provide for Abet and us a source of income.
As soon as Abet sends me some photos of the piggery and the piglets I will post them on the photo page of my web site. So check it out .
Just got done adding some photos to my website http//www.kuyajohns.com. I created a photo page with a jump of to some more pages with photos that I thought would be of interest. I will be adding more photos as soon as I get them sorted out and scanned into my computer. So visit my photo page often, as it will be constantly updated every chance that I get.
I also plan to add a photo page to this site and to start putting some photos in my post. All I have to do is figure out how to do that. Well that is part of the fun of doing this blog. Everything is a learning experience.

Well its been a while but I am back at it. I have not had a chance to work on this blog for a few weeks. Been busy with every day life (job , bills, the house and the kids). I also was working on getting my other website up. Spent must of my free time( the little I had) on that. This being my first attempt at create a website, it took me a whole lot longer than it really shoud have. I kinda proud of myself since I was able to muddle along without any outside help and finally get the site on the web.

The site is at http://kuyajohns.com . It is along the same lines as this blog is but I will gear it towards being more informational based and formal. I will keep this blog more towards my thoughts and feeling on things and also I would like to keep this site more informal.

Welcome to my blog. As the name of this blog implies , I am Kuya John. I am a fomer U.S. Marine married ( 18 years this November) to a beautiful Filipina. Kuya in Tagalog (main language of the Philippines) means older brother. It is a sign of respect given by the younger siblings in a family to an older brother or older sister’s husband. My wife Lita is the second oldest sister in a family of 9 children. I am known as and called Kuya John by all of my wife’s relatives in the Philippines. This is were I got the insperation for the name of this blog.
Lita and I live here in the states in Minnesota. We have also lived in New York and Georga since we have been married. The two of us are giving some serious thought about retiring in the Philippines. Possiblely starting some sort of business there. Also would like to do some sort of E-commerce or store with ties to this site.
My intentions for this blog is to be in general about Lita and I, our lives together, our plans for the future, and I journey and adventures in getting there. I also plan to cover the many different areas and interesting aspects that an American/Filipina marrage can present. Along with the topics allready mentioned I hope to in the future add a variety of different blogs, pages and post linked to this blog covering many different categories of interest.
So come back soon and visit with us here at Kuya John’s. Look foward to your comments and hope that you will enjoy my blog.
